In December 2024, United Engineers and Constructors was acquired by Aecon Group Inc. Aecon and United have a proven working relationship and the United team continues to operate as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Sr. Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting Power Generation Projects in our Mt. Laurel, NJ office. Responsibilities include managing the mechanical engineering and design effort on major power projects from conception to construction and final project close‑out.

What You'll Do Here
  • Function as the mechanical discipline lead on a project.
  • Serve as the mechanical engineer of record for assigned projects, using your professional engineering license to sign and seal mechanical drawings developed under your supervision.
  • Develop mechanical calculations, reports, studies, specifications, and design drawing such as equipment arrangement, PFD, AFD, P&IDs, and isometric drawings for water, steam, air, gas, oil systems.
  • Coordinate an interdisciplinary team of engineers and designers to complete project tasks on schedule and on budget.
  • Review relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support project development.
  • Develop material and work‑hour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for conventional generation (fossil‑fueled) power plants.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership position.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four‑year accredited college or university.
  • Experience with industry‑standard engineering software such as AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers and designers.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the U.S.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
  • Experience in HVAC and fire protection design is an asset.
  • Experience with Autodesk Plant3D is an asset.
