Job Description

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Lead Electrical Engineer with power plant design experience to join our Electrical Department in Charlotte, North Carolina to help lead projects. This is a great opportunity to get involved in challenging and interesting design projects within the Power industry.

Responsibilities

• Application of general design practices. Lead a team to implement design for installation, review, analyze, and integrate technical requirements, ensuring adherence to codes and standards.
• Perform complex assignments involving planning and conducting complete projects of various scopes.
• Provide field support, including verifications, documentation, procurement, and installation supervision.
• Manage team performance, develop budgets, and coordinate across multiple locations and disciplines.
• Design guidance for raceway, lighting, grounding systems, and develop schematics and diagrams.
• Participate in constructability reviews, develop techniques, and support field activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
• Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering design experience on Power and/or Industrial Projects.
• Professional Engineering License, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.
• Prior lead engineer experience with project execution.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE/ANSI, NEMA standards, and experience with medium and low voltage equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, organized, self-directed, and willing to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15-20 years of experience in electrical design for Power Plants, experience with ETAP software, and large power equipment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Includes communication, manual dexterity, lifting, and working in office and industrial environments with moderate to high noise levels.
