Position Summary

This role leads protection and control (P&C) engineering and design efforts for high‑voltage substation projects supporting large‑scale, transmission‑connected renewable energy facilities. The position collaborates closely with multidisciplinary substation teams to deliver coordinated, code‑compliant design documents from concept through construction support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead protection and control engineering and design for high‑voltage and EHV substation projects.
  • Support large‑scale renewable energy projects interconnected at the transmission level.
  • Coordinate with physical, civil/structural, relay settings, and SCADA teams.
  • Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Ensure deliverables meet stakeholder requirements and applicable codes and standards.
Job Function
  • Perform protection and control design for high‑voltage (4 kV–230 kV) and EHV (>230 kV) substations.
  • Develop P&C drawings including one‑lines, three‑lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Prepare engineering studies including AC/DC load calculations, CT saturation, and cable sizing.
  • Assist with development of major equipment specifications.
  • Review vendor submittals for compliance.
  • Perform quality reviews and cross‑discipline checks.
  • Attend project meetings and support procurement and construction activities.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • EIT certification required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in high‑voltage substation P&C design.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of substation zones of protection.
  • Experience with protection schemes for transmission lines, buses, transformers, and capacitor banks.
  • Knowledge of major relay manufacturers and applications.
  • Familiarity with substation equipment and AC/DC station service systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and NERC standards.
