B&W is seeking Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering, or similar Engineering Technology graduates, to join our team of talented Field Service Engineers, who provide best in the industry expertise and support on a broad range of B&W utility, industrial, and environmental products to our customers.
A Field Service Engineer will assist more experienced Service Engineers in performing pre-commissioning testing on boilers and environmental equipment and in the development of start-up schedules and procedures to ensure facilities meet pre-commissioning requirements. They will also work on the maintenance, inspection and operations of existing equipment to achieve reliable operations. The Service Engineer will work with a Senior Service Engineer or team of engineers to learn about the equipment and operations, with the goal being to establish a knowledge base so that they can work on their own as a B&W representative in a customer's plant.
This position requires extensive travel (90%) including driving on client/customer property. Travel will be primarily in one geographical location, possible travel elsewhere.
Additional duties of the Field Service engineers include:
- Collecting and evaluating field data.
- Working with customers, account executives, vendors and sublet vendors with assistance and guidance from the District Engineer or a senior engineer.
- Preparing technical reports including:
Service and Special Reports and Estimates and Proposals. - Working as part of a team on project startups and during outages.
- Work on existing equipment including: boiler inspections and repair, condition assessments and boiler operation evaluations and tuning.
- Providing construction technical support and outage management.
Field Service is a fast-paced job providing great job variety. Entry level engineers will work closely with senior engineers and the District Engineer. Field Service work provides a challenging and rewarding job and steep learning curve in which the engineer develops practical knowledge of power plants and all aspects of B&W products. The qualities we're looking for are:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or similar Engineering Technology.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- A Self Starter with good Communication Skills and the ability to Work with Others.
