Job Summary

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible for supporting and implementing programs, policies, and procedures that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace across Plaskolite’s operations. This role promotes compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while advancing Plaskolite’s safety culture, sustainability goals, and operational excellence initiatives.

The HSE Specialist works closely with plant operations, engineering, and corporate HSE leadership to identify hazards, assess risks, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, facilitating training, conducting inspections, and supporting initiatives that foster a proactive safety and environmental culture consistent with Plaskolite’s values and commitment to employee well-being.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality—reflecting Plaskolite’s core values of Integrity and Improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE programs, procedures, and policies that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Administer/conduct safety orientation and onboarding training for new employees.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and employees to promote safe work practices and reinforce a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental events; document findings; and lead corrective and preventive action processes.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training programs for employees, contractors, and supervisors on topics such as PPE use, hazard communication, emergency response, and safe work procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety and environmental data, including incident reports, training logs, air and waste permits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills, incident command support, and communication coordination.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to evaluate equipment and process changes for safety and environmental impacts.
  • Monitor and analyze safety and environmental performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Operations and Production teams to ensure safe operating procedures are established and consistently followed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure Plaskolite’s HSE programs remain compliant and effective.
  • Participate in corporate and site HSE committees and initiatives to share best practices and drive continuous improvement across facilities.
  • Provide technical support for industrial hygiene activities, including air sampling, noise monitoring, and exposure assessments.
  • Assist in managing contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with Plaskolite’s safety standards and expectations.
  • Coordinate communication of safety alerts, best practices, and awareness campaigns to reinforce safe behaviors and accountability.
  • Promote and uphold Plaskolite’s “One Plaskolite” values through proactive communication, collaboration, and personal accountability for safety.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related
  • OSHA 30
  • +1–3 years relevant experience (or internship)
