OverviewElement has an opportunity for a Failure Analyst who will be primarily responsible for failure analysis inspections, operations, reporting and consultation services. Salary: $85,000 - $120,000/yr DOE.
Responsibilities- Establish and maintain client contact for market/account development, understanding customers’ needs, building relationships, ensuring satisfaction, and maintaining a professional consulting image.
- Review technical documents and construct a suitable scope of work. Prepare written proposals, schedule tests, analyze test results, and prepare high‑quality reports.
- Perform root cause failure analysis investigations on metallic components from the aviation/aerospace, space, transportation, consumer products/industrial and energy industries.
- Conduct metallurgical examinations, including optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).
- Safely operate and maintain lab equipment in compliance with company requirements.
- Estimate the work effort required and assist in the commercial breakdown of the work.
- Experience and recognized qualification in Metallurgy. Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of 3‑5 years experience in failure analysis.
- Experience in conducting and reporting root cause failure analysis.
- Experience working with SEM/EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy / Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy).
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 (Nadcap preferred) laboratory environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to assess and respond to client requirements in an appropriate manner, prioritizing customer service and professional partnerships.
- Ability to operate and function within a team, drawing on other expertise where required.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different workloads and roles within the company.
