Job Description
Zachry Group is currently looking for talented and self-motivated Piping Drafters to join our Mechanical Technical Services department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a great opportunity to be involved with exciting and challenging projects within the Power Generation and Engineering Services industries.
Responsibilities- Assist with the development of Piping Design and Layouts in accordance with industry best practices using 2D & 3D software.
- Prepare construction documents, including General Arrangements, Piping Isometrics, and Piping Plans.
- Initiate conceptual physical design requirements in coordination with appropriate supervisors and engineers.
- Prepare material takeoffs for partial or complete projects.
- Check and verify discipline design on projects.
- Prepare design sketches for drafting personnel.
- Check vendor shop drawings and construction drawings.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Develop knowledge of field verification of piping and equipment.
- Follow instructions given to complete tasks related to piping drafting and design.
- High school diploma or Associates Degree with adequate drafting courses.
- 0‑5 years of engineering drafting/design experience.
- Working knowledge of at least one CAD software (Aveva E3D, CADWorx, Plant 3D, Micro Station, AutoCAD, Navisworks or others).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu is a plus.
- Must be able to understand and comply with company & customer policies, procedures, and processes.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized, self‑directed, able to prioritize and multi‑task, work in a team environment and take direction from others.
- Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as necessary.
- Associates Degree or Certificate in Drafting or related field.
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position may include visits to maintenance sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility on ground and at heights using stairs or ladders and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, climbing harness, gloves and steel‑toe work boots.
WorkEnvironment
Employee will work in multiple environments including office, warehouse and on sites in trailers or buildings. Noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells, whistles and alarms.
