Structural Engineer – Project Manager
Giles Flythe Engineers, Inc. (GFE) is looking for a Structural Engineer with a minimum of five years of experience. Candidates may work out of our Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina offices.
Key Responsibilities- Assist property owners in solving problems and understanding building & site improvements through forensic site inspections, technical reports, and repair/construction design.
- Perform on‑site field investigations and structural assessments of existing homes, buildings, or structures.
- Complete forensic structural engineering evaluations and report development.
- Conduct residential and commercial structural design.
- Participate in construction administration projects.
- Communicate professionally in writing and verbally with clients, including homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects.
- Travel to inspection sites, both residential and commercial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program, preferably with a structural focus.
- Minimum five years of structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain one within six months.
- Proven technical writing and report writing skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with clients daily.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to perform inspections in crawl spaces, attics, basements, and roofs, with the physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and balance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Our services include problem‑solving, repair/maintenance planning, pre‑purchase due diligence, cost estimating, and structural design. We serve a broad client base that includes commercial real estate investors/owners, homeowners, community associations, general contractors, and architects.

Salary: $85,000 – $110,000 per year.
