Civil Engineer – Site Development & Infrastructure

Location: Charlotte, NC

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

A leading site development and infrastructure contractor in the Charlotte metro area is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support a growing portfolio of commercial, industrial, and large-scale residential projects. This firm provides comprehensive sitework solutions including grading, utilities, stormwater, and underground infrastructure — and is expanding rapidly to meet increased client demand.

This position offers the chance to play a critical role in the planning, design, and execution of complex civil and sitework projects across the region. The Civil Engineer will collaborate closely with project management and construction teams to ensure site designs are accurate, constructible, and fully aligned with regulatory and client standards.

You’ll join a dynamic team that bridges design and field execution, helping prepare sites for major new developments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, practical field awareness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review civil and site design plans for grading, utilities, drainage, and stormwater management systems.
  • Prepare construction drawings, design calculations, and permitting documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure design intent translates seamlessly into construction.
  • Conduct on-site reviews to verify existing conditions, resolve design challenges, and support project delivery.
  • Ensure designs comply with all local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and permitting agencies to maintain schedule and quality control.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives related to design efficiency and project execution.
Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or infrastructure construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, and utilities).
  • Working knowledge of stormwater management, erosion control, and permitting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and field teams.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in contractor-led or design-build environments.
  • Familiarity with Charlotte-area design and permitting standards.
  • EIT or PE license (preferred but not required).
Why This Role
  • Be part of a firm driving high-profile site development and infrastructure projects across the Southeast.
  • Collaborate with experienced project managers and construction professionals in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to diverse projects combining design and field execution.
  • Competitive compensation, growth potential, and a team culture that values initiative, accountability, and craftsmanship.
