Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a full-time Water Resources Designer in our Charlotte, NC office. The Water Resources Designer will provide engineering design, support, and assistance of projects within the Charlotte Water Resources Group. The ideal candidate will design and complete assigned projects on time, within budget, and of high quality. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

  • Complete hydraulic design projects under the direct supervision of a professional engineer. Project types include storm drainage for transportation type projects, hydraulics modeling for bridge/culvert replacements, and neighborhood storm drainage repair projects.
  • Work alone and in small groups.
  • Assist in field survey for hydraulic projects.
  • Design tasks include storm drainage system modeling, open channel analysis, preparation of design plans, and bridge/culvert survey reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-3 years of previous water resources or engineering experience
  • EI certification a plus (at minimum-FE exam should be scheduled)
  • Knowledge of Open Roads and/or Micro Station / GEOPAK Drainage a plus
  • Previous hydraulic and storm drainage design related work experience a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment preferred.
