French Language Teacher (Grades 6‑8)
Note: This is a Part Time (0.5) Position.
Position OverviewSouth Academy of International Languages (S.A.I.L.) is seeking a dynamic and passionate French Language Teacher (Middle School) to join our faculty and inspire students in grades 6-8. This is currently a part‑time (0.5) position, but may be combined with another (0.5) position to create a full‑time role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in French language instruction and a commitment to fostering students' linguistic proficiency, intercultural understanding, and love of learning.
As part of our World Languages team, you will collaborate with colleagues to support students' continued growth in language, literacy, and global awareness within a rigorous and supportive academic environment.
- Provide high‑quality instruction in French to middle school students (grades 6‑8).
- Develop engaging lessons that integrate language, culture, and content across subject areas to build proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student participation, collaboration, and confidence in language use.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide targeted feedback to support continued growth and mastery of learning objectives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and support cross‑disciplinary connections.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to foster a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
- Participate in school‑wide events and initiatives that celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, French, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Fluency in French and strong proficiency in English.
- North Carolina Teaching License in World Languages or eligibility for certification.
- Experience teaching middle school students, preferably in a language or international education setting.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- A passion for language education and a commitment to helping students grow as bilingual, biliterate, and culturally aware learners.

The middle school teacher, under moderate supervision, performs instructional work with limited decision‑making discretion, providing leadership in the educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. The teacher supervises, monitors, and evaluates students while developing lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met. Employee performs school‑based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal.

Place of WorkThe normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
