Position: [2025 - 2026] KIPP Change 2nd Grade Teacher

Overview

KIPP North Carolina is seeking a 2nd Grade Teacher for the  school year at CHURCHILL HOUSE VIP EVENTS. The organization is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools serving approximately 3,000 students in K-12 across several NC counties. Teachers are central to delivering research-based, rigorous curricula and supporting student success.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review, internalize, and facilitate KIPP NC adopted & scripted curriculum
  • K-8 Math:
    Open Up Resources
  • K-8 ELA:
    Fish Tank
  • Deliver instruction with fidelity to the pacing guide
  • Create exemplar responses and documents to hold students accountable
  • Use assessment data (Interim Assessments, MAP, EOGs, EOCs, summatives, formatives) to drive instruction and adjust lessons to meet student needs
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback to pursue excellence
  • Maintain accurate gradebook, records, and data tracking systems
Positive School & Classroom Culture
  • Model and uphold school values, policies, and culture
  • Take personal responsibility for student achievement
  • Maintain a clean classroom with student work and appropriate decorations
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff through regular communication and participation in events
  • Participate in daily school operations as required

  • Collaborate with coach to identify strengths and growth areas
  • Receive feedback in real time and through observations
  • Attend Practice Clinics to master pedagogical skills
  • Attend school or regionally led Professional Development sessions as scheduled

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Deep commitment to the mission of KIPP NC and belief in all students' potential
  • Commitment to improving the lives of students from economically marginalized communities
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license, reciprocity, or willingness to pursue certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area
  • Criminal background check clearance
  • Commitment to closing the opportunity gap
  • Enthusiasm, grit, professionalism, and sense of humor
  • Ability to stand and actively monitor classrooms for 8+ hours daily
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in Grades K-5
  • Experience in high-performing charter schools or schools with high FRL populations
  • Proven success in raising achievement of economically marginalized students
  • Praxis exams passed or planned by September 2025
  • Spanish language proficiency
Additional Information
  • Hours:

    Mon, Thu, Fri 7:30am-3:30pm;
    Tue/Wed 7:30am-5:00pm
  • Curriculum, materials, and resources provided
  • Monthly Teacher Work Days with professional development and data analysis
