About the Goddard School of South Charlotte

Goddard School of South Charlotte, 9113 Wade Ardrey Road, Charlotte, NC 28277

Anticipated Opening:
June 2026

The Goddard School® of South Charlotte is opening in June 2026 after nearly three years of thoughtful planning, design, and hands-on involvement by on-site ownership. We are launching a purpose-built, state-of-the-art early childhood education center in a growing South Charlotte community, designed with both children and educators in mind. From dedicated STEAM spaces and expansive outdoor play areas to a strong focus on educator support and well-being, this school has been intentionally built to create an exceptional daily experience.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a new school from the very beginning and help shape its culture, systems, and relationships from day one. Director-level experience is strongly preferred, along with a solid working knowledge of licensing, credentialing, and certification requirements. You should feel confident managing compliance and maintaining licensing standards consistently throughout the year.

As School Director, you will lead day-to-day operations from pre-opening through launch and beyond, support and develop a strong teaching team, and serve as a steady, approachable leader for families. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming, well-run school that reflects Goddard standards, delivers the Wonder of Learning® curriculum with quality, and fosters an environment where teachers, children, and families can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily school operations in alignment with Goddard standards and all licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Hire, onboard, train, and support teachers and staff, with a focus on strong culture and consistent performance
  • Implement the Wonder of Learning® curriculum with quality and consistency
  • Build strong relationships with families and serve as a visible, approachable leader in the school
  • Lead tours and confidently engage prospective families, helping drive enrollment in a professional and welcoming way
  • Support staffing, scheduling, enrollment, and budget management to ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-prepared school environment for children, staff, and visitors
  • Partner closely with on-site ownership during pre-opening and throughout ongoing operations
  • Our owners are present, collaborative, and highly invested in building a great school. We value clear communication, mutual respect, and thoughtful decision-making.
Pre-Opening Focus

This role will be heavily involved in preparing the school for opening, including early hiring, classroom readiness, operational setup, and building routines and communication practices that will set the tone for long-term success.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in early childhood education and at least 1 year in a leadership role (Director experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of state licensing regulations and certification/credentialing criteria, including confidence managing compliance
  • Strong understanding of child development, early learning best practices, and staff development
  • Strong communication skills, including comfort leading tours and building relationships with both prospective and current families
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Calm, professional leadership style with strong follow-through
  • Must meet all state credentialing and background check requirements
Who This Role Fits Best
  • Someone who is proactive, sees what’s needed, and takes action
  • A leader who enjoys building systems, setting expectations, and developing teams
  • A Director who can balance warmth with high standards
  • A steady presence, someone people trust and enjoy working with
Our Philosophy

We believe great schools are built by supporting teachers, communicating clearly with families, and creating an environment where children feel safe, engaged, and cared for. We hold high standards, and we work hard to create a school where people feel proud to be part of the team. If you take pride in building strong teams, running consistent operations, and creating a great parent experience, we would love to connect.

Apply today and help shape the school from the beginning.
