IT Specialist
Summary
Provides instruction and guidance at the high school level within the Public Safety career sectors of law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical technician, and emergency management. Facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implementation of state and district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment;
and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations.

- Provides instruction and guidance within the public service sector within the area of law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical technician, and emergency management.
- Utilizes various instructional strategies including effective classroom management, hands-on demonstrations/participation, computer/web-based instruction, and/or various combinations of approaches.
- Coordinate CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
- Attend District PLC meetings as scheduled
- Provides an engaging instructional program that identifies/considers individual student needs, interests, abilities and maturity levels of the student.
- Supports student participation in CTE Student Organization Skills
USA. - Supports the school's programs, policies and administrative guidelines.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Residency License(s)
- Required Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree
AND
- 24 credit hours in the Content area
OR
- Passing the NC SBE Licensure Area Exam
AND
- Completion of NCSBE Pre-service Requirements
AND
- Enroll in EPP (Educational Preparation Program)
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 2 years of industry related experience in the past 5 years in any area of public safety (fire, law, medical, emergency management).
- Associate's degree in a related field and 4 years of industry related experience within the past 8 years in any area of public safety (fire, law, medical, emergency management).
- High School Diploma and 6 years of industry related experience within the past 10 years in any area of public safety (fire, law, medical, emergency management).

- Fire Science, Law Enforcement, EMS Management, any medical related degree such as Nursing, EMT, paramedic, Environmental Management, Critical Incident Mgt., Public Safety Administration, Homeland Security, Paralegal, Criminal Psychology, Law and Justice, etc.
- Introduction to Public Safety, any area of public safety is acceptable (fire, volunteer fire, law, medical, emergency management).
(Before teaching unless noted).
To teach Public Safety, no specific certification is required only relevant work experience.
