Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Applicants may apply for one or more of the available camp weeks listed below.
- June 15–19, 2026 – Marine Science
- June 22–26, 2026 – STEAM Academy

Social Media & Ethics Camp
Applicants must specify the camp week(s) of interest in the cover letter and provide references and an up-to-date resume highlighting relevant experience.
Responsibilities- Develop engaging, well-organized lesson plans for a five-day camp incorporating active and experiential learning.
- Differentiate lessons for a range of abilities in grades 5–8.
- Create a comprehensive supply list and obtain approval for necessary resources.
- Maintain a positive and supportive environment for campers.
- Blend education with fun through dynamic teaching strategies.
- Address and resolve conflicts or disciplinary issues, keeping the Program Director informed.
- Lead camp activities with the support of Camp Counselors.
- Participate in a mandatory live online training session conducted via Zoom.
- Exhibit professionalism, accountability, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with campers, staff, and parents.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with staff, parents, and campers to ensure clarity and build positive relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth, teens, or young adults; specifically with children in grades 5–8.
- Proven communication skills with parents and families.
- Proficiency in conflict-resolution strategies.
- Pass a criminal background check and complete Youth Protection Training with an 80 % or higher prior to assignment.
- Availability for mandatory orientation training before camp season.
- Knowledge or training in the content area of the camp (Marine Science, STEAM, Social Media & Ethics).
- First Aid / CPR certification.
- NC teaching licensure.
- Background working in a summer camp environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Suite and digital collaboration tools.
- Use stairs for safe evacuation during emergencies.
- Demonstrate maturity, responsibility, accountability, creativity, patience, and enthusiasm.
- Show strong interpersonal communication and a passion for working with minors.
Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, state service credit, etc.) but are covered by Worker's Compensation provisions.
