Fall 2026 Semester.

Minimum Experience and Education

Faculty teaching undergraduate courses: doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline. Faculty teaching graduate courses: earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree. UNC Charlotte also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees;

related work experience in the field; professional licensure and certifications; honors and awards; continuous documented excellence in teaching; or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes.

Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/Education

The Department of Communication Studies seeks part‑time instructors for Sports Journalism. Experience teaching sports journalism or related areas is preferred, and relevant professional experience in these areas will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and/or update course syllabus, preparation of lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
  • Attend all designated class periods and maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Submit completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
