The Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition‑free, college‑preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K‑12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton and Mecklenburg counties. We are committed to improving the life outcomes of North Carolina’s children through research‑based, rigorous curricula.
Job Responsibilities- Review, internalize, and facilitate KIPP NC adopted & scripted curriculum.
- Implement K‑8 Math (Open Up Resources), K‑8 ELA (Fish Tank), K‑8 Science (Amplify), 9‑12 English & History (AP For All), and 9‑12 Math & Science (KIPP NC Approved Materials).
- Practice lesson delivery to meet pacing guide with fidelity.
- Create exemplar responses and documents for student work.
- Use assessment data (MAP, EOGs, EOCs, formative, summative) to drive instruction.
- Embrace feedback and pursue excellence.
- Maintain accurate gradebook, records, and data tracking systems.
- Embody and maintain the school's values, policies and culture.
- Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers and staff through regular communication and attendance at required events.
- Participate in daily school functions (arrival, advisory, lunch duty, recess, dismissal).
- Collaborate with coach on professional growth.
- Attend practice clinics and regional professional development.
- Support peers and address student needs collaboratively.
Required Qualifications
- Deep commitment to KIPP NC mission and belief in potential of all students.
- Commitment to improving lives of economically marginalized children.
- Valid North Carolina teaching license (or willingness to pursue certification).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.
- Pass criminal background check.
- Commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
- Enthusiasm, grit, professionalism, sense of humor.
- Ability to stand monitor classrooms for 8+ hours each day.
- Ability to lift 50 lb or more as necessary.
- At least two full years of teaching experience in K‑12.
- Experience in high‑performing charter school or schools with high free/reduced lunch population.
- Demonstrated success in raising achievement for economically marginalized students.
Praxis exam proficiency by September 2025. - Fluency in Spanish.
