Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology (Tenure-track)
This is a nine‑month tenure‑track appointment beginning August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, or cell biology based on qualifications, introductory biology, and non‑majors science courses.
- Develop or plan a research program involving undergraduates that attracts external funding.
- Perform professional activity and service to the University and community.
- Use current technology in courses and maintain positive educational relationships with students and colleagues.
- Academic advising, curriculum development, committee service, and other projects required to meet organizational needs.
- Contribute to the Pre‑Health Professions program (strongly encouraged).
- Teach twelve credit hours per semester (subject to departmental review).
- Hold ten office hours per week (five scheduled, five by appointment).
- Serve on University committees and professional development programs.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and report non‑attendance as required.
- Assign and grade courses in keeping with University guidelines, providing midterm and final grades on time.
- Participate in University events, faculty development, research, community activities, and professional organizations.
- Support grant writing and contribute to University curricula and programs.
- Adhere to University guidelines of professional conduct.
- Participate in student and faculty evaluation procedures.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Proteomics, Genomics, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or Molecular Biology.
- Experience in course development and curriculum design.
- Evidence of an established research agenda or commitment to develop an extramural‑funded research program offering experiential learning to undergraduates.
- Demonstrated ability to teach with technology.
- Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in research addressing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL).
- Initial appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor may be considered depending on qualifications and experience.
