Assistant/Associate Professor – Addiction Counseling
Department:
Counseling, College of Education, UNC Charlotte. Position Number: 004889. Employment: 9‑month tenure‑track, full‑time, permanent.
- Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, especially those focusing on addictions.
- Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall addictions program.
- Engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education.
- Seek externally funded research grants.
- Serve on and direct dissertation committees.
- Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University.
- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited university (or ABD with evidence of degree completion by Aug 15 2026).
- Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and addiction counseling specialty.
- Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist (or associate).
- Experience working with a variety of client populations.
- Demonstrated promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/outreach/engagement.
- Experience at the university level (preferred).
- Involvement in professional counseling organizations.
- Commitment to obtaining external grant funding to support research.
- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited university.
- Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist (or associate).
