Chair & Professor

Chair & Professor position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UNC Charlotte.

The Department Chair/Director will promote excellence in department programs within the University. Responsibilities include leading and growing departmental academic, research, and outreach activities, mentoring and supporting faculty and staff, securing external and internal funding, and improving curriculum design.

Minimum requirements include a doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field, a proven academic record of scholarly accomplishment, teaching, and administrative leadership, and the ability to work across disciplines to lead a growing department.

• Carrying out long-term, strategic collaborative planning efforts focused on achieving excellence in both teaching and research.
• Conducting short-term/operational planning and execution.
• Mentoring, supervising, and supporting faculty and staff members.
• Supporting faculty research efforts and initiatives by fostering interdisciplinary and industry collaborations and providing resources.
• Securing external and internal funding.
• Improving curriculum design, including accreditation planning and review preparation.
• Performing research and dissemination of scholarly work in relevant field(s) of expertise.
• Teaching courses in related areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
