Edenton, NC – OB/GYN Physician (Call Coverage) Locum Tenens

24-Hour Call Shifts | Low-Volume Community Hospital | Epic EMR | January Coverage Needed

Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician to provide hospital call coverage in a well-supported, low-volume community setting in Edenton, North Carolina
. This assignment offers predictable 24-hour shifts, manageable delivery volume, and strong specialty support through the ECU Health system.

This is a highly organized program ideal for OB physicians seeking short-term, call-only locums with seamless workflows and transfer resources.

Assignment Details

  • Location: Edenton, North Carolina
  • Setting: Community Hospital + Established Women’s Care Practice
  • Facility Type: 25-Bed Hospital
  • Contract Type: Locum Tenens – OB Hospital Call
  • Shifts Needed (24-hr, 8a–8a):
    • January 8–9
    • January 12–13
    • January 15–16
  • Clinical Scope: 100% inpatient
  • Call Response Time: ? 20 minutes
  • EMR: Epic
  • Environment: Low-volume Emergency Department (7 beds), no ICU involvement

Clinical Expectations

The covering OB/GYN will be responsible for:

Labor & Delivery
  • Vaginal deliveries
  • Cesarean deliveries
  • Shoulder dystocia & obstetric emergency management
  • Postpartum rounding
Hospital Responsibilities
  • Manage unassigned OB patients
  • Cover all L&D and OB-related ED presentations
  • No ICU responsibilities
  • No code response required
  • Supported transfers:
    ECU Health Air & Ground available for immediate escalation
Volume Snapshot
  • 28–34 deliveries per month
  • Small community setting with predictable patient flow
Candidate Requirements
  • Board Certified OB/GYN (required)
  • Active & unrestricted North Carolina license
  • Comfortable with both vaginal & cesarean deliveries
  • Able to respond to hospital within 20 minutes
  • Clean file preferred for faster onboarding
Additional Requirements for Assignments Exceeding 6 Months

If the locums provider continues beyond 6 months, the following certifications must be obtained:

  • ALSO – Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (current)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course (completed within the last 2 years)
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required for all community OB physicians)
