Interior Designer

Creative, detail-driven Interior Designer with 10 to 15 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will bring both design sensibility and technical expertise, working collaboratively across project types including educational, civic, and institutional.

Education
  • 1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from a CIDA accredited program is preferred.
  • 2. A Pre-Professional Degree or Technical degree from a community college in Interior Architecture is also acceptable.
Certification and Licensing
  • 1. Strong background in design fundamentals, space planning, and environmental.
  • 2. NCIDQ certification required.
  • 3. Registered Interior Designer in North Carolina (or eligible for reciprocity).
  • 4. LEED AP or WELL AP certification preferred (not required).
Experience
  • 1. Professional experience in interior design and interior architecture, ideally within architecture firms or multidisciplinary environments.
  • 2. Proven ability to manage interiors from concept through construction documentation, including:
    • a. Demonstrated experience with:
    • b. Finish and material selection;
    • c. Furniture and fixture coordination (FF&E);
    • d. Code compliance, accessibility, and life safety standards;
    • e. Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Sketch Up, Enscape, or Lumion preferred;
    • f. Experience preparing presentations, specifications, and construction documentation;
    • g. Strong understanding of project workflows and coordination with architects and consultants.

  • 2. Collaborative team player who thrives in a small-firm environment with cross-disciplinary teamwork.
  • 3. Passionate about designing spaces that support learning, community, and well-being.
  • 4. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining design quality and consistency.
  • 5. Active Professional Association (IIDA, ASID) involvement is encouraged.
