About the RoleBohler’s Charlotte, NC office is seeking a Director of Planning & Landscape Architecture to lead strategy, people development, and project direction across Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Land Development. This role carries significant influence over regional growth, client relationships, project quality, and internal team development. You’ll guide high‑visibility initiatives, strengthen market presence, mentor future leaders, and ensure that Bohler delivers excellence across multidisciplinary planning and site development work.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Provide strategic leadership across planning, landscape architecture, and land development initiatives
- Establish and maintain discipline standards, best practices, and operational workflows
- Guide project direction from early strategy through approvals and construction support
- Oversee staff development, mentoring, performance evaluation, and succession planning
- Lead client management and relationship development across key accounts and market sectors
- Drive business development efforts through networking, market involvement, and strategic outreach
- Represent Bohler in civic, political, professional, and industry organizations
- Review and approve proposals, scopes, fee structures, contracts, and change orders
- Collaborate with internal leadership on regional growth, financial performance, and workload strategy
- Maintain oversight of project quality, QA/QC, discipline alignment, and technical excellence
- Support recruitment and development of a high‑performing planning and landscape architecture team
- A high‑impact leadership role shaping project direction, market presence, and team development
- Influence across multidisciplinary planning, landscape architecture, and land development work
- Significant visibility across client relationships, business development, and regional strategy

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
- 7+ years of experience in private‑sector landscape architecture, planning, and land development
- RLA preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
- Proven leadership in project delivery, client management, and staff development
- Ability to lead and integrate multidisciplinary design and planning teams
- High energy, strategic mindset, and ability to operate in a dynamic environment
- Production experience with AutoCAD (Civil3D), Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and Sketch Up preferred
