We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Estimator - Civil/Utilities to join our dynamic team at RBC Utilities LLC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating and project management, with a strong ability to analyze costs and negotiate effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with office staff, clients, and subcontractors to deliver accurate estimates that drive project success.
As part of the Saga Infrastructure family, you will be preparing precise cost estimates for civil construction and utility sitework projects across the RBC and CPG portfolios. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC—perfect for candidates looking to take ownership of high-impact, meaningful work.

Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction and utility/site development projects using HCSS Heavy Bid and Agtek
- Analyze plans, drawings, specs, and related documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs
- Conduct site visits to gather critical data and evaluate field conditions for accurate cost forecasting
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and leadership to develop budgets and maintain alignment with company goals
- Negotiate and secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Track project costs throughout lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets
- Support value engineering and cost control strategies
- Organize and manage digital workflows and documentation using Bluebeam and related platforms
- Present current estimating examples during the hiring process
- 3–5+ years of estimating experience in civil construction and utility/site development
- Proven experience with underground utility and site development scopes
- Proficiency in Heavy Bid or similar construction estimating software
- Proficiency in Agtek or similar software; GPS modeling preferred but not required
- Strong working knowledge of horizontal development scopes including:
- Demolition
- Cut/fill analysis and heat maps for earthwork
- Mass and trench rock evaluation
- Erosion control and BMP conversions
- Sanitary sewer, storm drain, and water systems
- Asphalt paving, curbs, sidewalks, and retaining walls
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and vendor management skills
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Valid driver’s license required for occasional job site travel
