We are looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator who will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety across all project phases.
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures on construction sites to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This role proactively identifies hazards, conducts safety inspections and training, and works closely with project teams to promote a strong culture of safety and risk preventions.
Responsibilities- Implement and maintain site-specific safety plans and programs
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits and risk assessments
- Collaborate with management to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and discuss corrective actions
- Collaborate with Project Managers, supervisors and subcontractors to enforce safety standards
- Investigates accidents, incidents and near misses; prepare detailed reports
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Maintain safety documentation, logs, permits and compliance records
- Review PTP, confined space permits, etc.
- Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards
- Serves as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns on-site
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Bilingual speaking (Spanish) is a MUST
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent related field experience) in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- At least three years of construction safety experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
- OSHA 500/501 Certification (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid certification required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the range of heavy equipment in our industry
- Good communication and people skills
- Ability to travel to jobsites as required to conduct safety duties
