Role Summary

The Superintendent 3 will plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects with moderate complexity. This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning construction sequencing, and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core
  • Lead all aspects of the company’s safety culture, create awareness, and demonstrate commitment to an injury‑free environment.
  • Investigate safety incidents and retrain staff as needed.
  • Provide management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
  • Manage and oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
  • Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of the project site.
  • Lead daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings; attend, manage, and participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
  • Create, manage, and update the project schedule as needed in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports.
  • Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Maintain project filing and documentation organization, update drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
  • Approve and record unit cost information for weekly reports; complete daily reports, logs, and tracking reports.
  • Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make adjustments as needed.
  • Manage material and equipment needs for the project.
  • Support procurement and approval processes for MOC and DLSC.
  • Assist in selection of formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for self‑perform operations.
  • Approve timecard process to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, quality standards, in‑house QA/QC, and outside resources.
  • Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect, and governing authorities.
  • Gain understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
  • Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to create a pre‑plan; monitor and adjust as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for the project.
  • Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes.
  • Participate in negotiation with owner and architect for project changes.
  • Participate with the project team in preparation and presentation for all project review meetings.
  • Participate in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Understand and apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts.
  • Identify and recruit top talent.
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion; understand policy of non‑discrimination and implement it proactively.
Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core
  • Manage moderately complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
  • Manage projects with multiple field supervisors.
  • Play a lead role in the project pursuit process.
  • Collaborate with marketing on presentations and marketing activities.
  • Develop new business opportunities and generate future work by cultivating client relationships.
  • Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety, and quality on the project or portion thereof.
  • Identify, understand, and actively manage project risks.
  • Recommend solutions for review and implementation by the team.
  • Manage deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
  • Verbal and written communication (Intermediate).
  • Effective presentation skills (Intermediate).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).
