Location: Charlotte, NC (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

A privately held real estate development and investment firm is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to manage day‑to‑day development accounting and financial operations across a portfolio of mixed‑use, single‑tenant, and multifamily projects at various stages of construction and lease‑up. This role is hands‑on and highly collaborative, supporting project teams, leadership, and external partners through accurate financial reporting, cash management, and process improvement initiatives.

• Prepare monthly equity and loan draw requests for assigned development projects
• Oversee the accounts payable process, including vendor onboarding, invoice review and approval, payment processing, positive pay uploads, and 1099 administration
• Support year‑end audit requests and respond to auditor inquiries
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Assist in maintaining and administering the accounting platform
• Review property‑level financial statements to ensure equity, intercompany, and development balances are accurate and aligned

• Monitor daily cash balances and project‑level cash flow
• Manage intercompany transactions and funding requirements
• Maintain banking relationships and ensure compliance with loan covenants and financing agreements

• Support the implementation of an expense management system for employee reimbursements
• Assist with evaluating and implementing electronic accounts payable solutions, including assessing potential outsourcing options
• Contribute to ongoing process improvements as the organization scales its development platform

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field AND CPA designation
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a real estate or development environment
• Prior experience supporting development or construction projects with strong understanding of real estate development and construction accounting
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with job costing, draw processes, and multi‑entity accounting
• Proficiency with real estate accounting systems (e.g., MRI, Yardi, Timberline, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities
• Experience participating in system implementations or process transformations
