- Serve in a client-facing Controller role within the Managed Accounting Services practice, delivering client work at a premium level
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes for multiple clients simultaneously
- Proactively identify and solve client accounting challenges by developing a deep understanding of each client’s business
- Lead the monthly close of client books, including assigned journal entries, accruals, balance sheet account reconciliations, and complex accounting items
- Assist clients with proper transaction recording for revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity, and leases to ensure GAAP compliance
- Maintain financial records for multiple clients and ensure accurate transaction recording
- Plan, assign, and review work performed by Bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and provide feedback for improvement
- Proactively manage project deadlines to align deliverables with client expectations and deadlines
- Collaborate with Managed Accounting Services and Tax teams on technical matters, project progress, tasks, and associated budgets
- Review client financial performance monthly and make recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with team members to recommend process improvements and KPI/dashboard improvements
- Assist with internal budgets and internal processes
- Act as a hands-on, working manager who is willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
- Comply with firm policies and procedures, including timesheet submission and attendance policy
- Develop a detailed close plan for each client and ensure tasks are completed prior to formal review with the Director of Managed Accounting Services
- Document and perform analysis over cost accounting and other critical areas
- Properly record revenue and support accurate financial reporting
- Review other team members’ work for quality and accuracy
- Assist in implementation of new tools and software
- Support relationship building and business development activities (approximately 15% of time)
- CPA license required
- Previous work experience as a Controller or similar role
- In-depth working knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Ability to learn and work in multiple accounting systems
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Motivated and quick learner with strong communication skills and demonstrated professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to see projects through to completion
