Staff Accountant - Private Equity Firm (Charlotte, NC)
A growing private equity firm in Charlotte is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of accounting experience who is looking for a step into a more sophisticated environment with long-term growth potential. The firm has a collaborative culture, hands-on leadership, and a strong focus on developing talent. Prior private equity or fund accounting experience is not required.
The team is willing to train the right candidate who brings a strong foundation in accounting, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. - Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records remain accurate.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate general ledger activity and assist with cash management tasks.
- Support accounts payable processing, vendor management, and invoice tracking.
- Assist with annual audits, tax preparation, and compliance filings by gathering documentation and preparing required schedules.
- Prepare internal financial reports and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Partner with senior members of the finance team on ad hoc projects as the firm continues to scale.
- 1-3 years of experience as an Accountant or Staff Accountant in public accounting or corporate accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to adapt to new systems.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
