Senior Accountant

Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the monthly close process for a manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for general ledger accounting, inventory and cost accounting support, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing accounting experience and is comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership.

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Lead or support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in accordance with GAAP
• Perform inventory accounting, including:
  • Inventory reconciliations
  • Cycle count and physical inventory variance analysis
  • Support standard costing and cost roll-ups
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and partner with operations to explain results
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting
• Support annual audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting procedures
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles
• Experience with inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis
• ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, JD Edwards, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet deadlines

• CPA or CMA (or progress toward certification)
• Experience in a multi-plant or multi-entity manufacturing environment
• Exposure to SOX controls or private equity–backed companies
• Prior experience supporting audits and cost accounting functions

• Accurate and timely month-end close
