Senior Accountant - Reinsurance (Hybrid | Charlotte, NC)

A leading organization in the financial services/insurance space is seeking a Senior Accountant - Reinsurance to join its Reinsurance Accounting & Reporting team. This role is part of a corporate accounting group and supports critical reinsurance activity across both internal stakeholders and external partners. The position is hybrid with regular in-office presence in Charlotte
.

• Manage core accounting responsibilities tied to reinsurance activity across reporting cycles (monthly/quarterly/annual).
• Drive preparation and support of journal entries and related analysis for multiple reporting bases, including GAAP and Statutory
  .
• Deliver clear commentary and financial insights for leadership, including trend analysis and variance explanations.
• Own key workflows and calculations that impact reinsurance financial results from start to finish.
• Support regulatory and operational reporting needs, including settlement support and filing deliverables.
• Help maintain a strong controls environment, including documentation updates, process narratives, and flow mapping.
• Partner cross-functionally to research issues, resolve exceptions, and strengthen processes long-term.
• Serve as a technical resource on reinsurance accounting questions, escalating and advising when needed.
• Assist audit and examination requests by pulling support, walking through procedures, and responding to inquiries.
• Contribute to broader team projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and documentation.

• 3+ years of experience within insurance/reinsurance accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel and overall Microsoft Office capability.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize effectively, and operate with high ownership.
• Strong analytical mindset with comfort navigating technical accounting topics.

• CPA (or progress toward licensure).
• Experience with ERP/workflow/reporting tools such as People Soft, Oracle, Workiva, Appian, Essbase, Alteryx, Tableau
  , and/or data tools like SQL/Snowflake
