A respected Charlotte, North Carolina CPA firm is hiring a Senior Accounting Manager to lead and grow its outsourced accounting and financial reporting practice. This role owns client financials, manages a team of bookkeepers and accountants, improves processes, and ensures clean, accurate data that fuels tax planning and business decisions. You will not be buried in compliance. You will shape a service line, elevate a team, and become a true financial partner to closely held businesses.

They are looking for a seasoned public accounting leader who can run client relationships, develop people, and build a high‑performing accounting group.

Senior Accounting Manager Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee monthly accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of clients
  • Manage and mentor a team of 5-6 accountants and bookkeepers
  • Ensure clean books and accurate financials to support tax planning and advisory work
  • Improve workflows, processes, and client onboarding within the accounting group
  • Advise clients on financial reporting, systems, and best practices
  • Partner with firm leadership to expand and strengthen the accounting services offering
  • Track department performance, workload, and client deliverables
  • Support client billing and service line profitability
Senior Accounting Manager Requirements
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience
  • 2+ years in a people leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Strong experience with Quick Books Desktop and Quick Books Online
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Background serving small to mid‑sized businesses, trusts, and individuals
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid, autonomous environment
  • CPA preferred but not required
