Job Overview – Capital Assets Staff Accountant – JO# 34001Our client, a leading organization in the hospitality and support services industry, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support fixed asset, intangible, and lease accounting activities across multiple sectors. This role partners closely with sector operations and corporate accounting teams to ensure accurate asset setup, compliance with accounting policies, and strong internal controls. The position offers exposure to SAP-based accounting, asset lifecycle management, audit support, and process improvement initiatives within a large, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities- Review, validate, and process asset requests for tangible, intangible, and leased assets, including SAP setups, transfers, and retirements
- Analyze asset purchase requests to determine proper classification, capitalization, and useful life in accordance with accounting standards
- Prepare and post journal entries related to capital assets and support month‑end close activities
- Review contracts and documentation to ensure compliance with accounting requirements related to capital assets, investments, and pre‑opening activity
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, and reporting for assigned asset accounts
- Support asset physical inventory processes and assist with variance resolution
- Serve as a liaison between sector operations and corporate teams including Accounts Payable, Treasury, IT, Audit, and Field Accounting
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and analysis
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting concentration;
Associate’s degree with significant relevant experience also considered - Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile detailed financial data
- Working knowledge of GAAP; IFRS exposure a plus
- Capital asset or lease accounting experience preferred
- SAP experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
