Material Handler (Transportation)

Purpose or General Objective: To assist with loading/unloading trucks and general transfer of merchandise.

• Continually load or unload trucks for daily store runs.
• Correctly follow all weighing procedures.
• Transfer seasonal merchandise and salvage merchandise.
• Transfer carts and Gaylords to the appropriate holding area within the plant.
• Fill out appropriate paperwork as required.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Follow safety procedures and report injuries and safety hazards.
• Maintain good housekeeping skills including sweeping and cleaning work area at the end of shift.
• Develop and maintain skills to adjust to increased level of truck runs and incoming merchandise.
• Ability to work productively without close supervision.
• Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with all employees, participants, customers and consumers working with and for Goodwill Industries.

• Other duties as assigned by the Charlotte Plant Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor, Operations Manager, Retail Director or Vice President of Retail and Donated Goods.
