Position Overview
The Tax Division is seeking an experienced application developer to join its I.T. Division. The chosen candidate will act as a Lead Developer, working at the advanced level, and will work with other developers, vendors, analysts, and end users to support, configure, and develop applications for the Integrated Tax System (Gen Tax) and other tax‑specific applications, including legacy applications.
Key Responsibilities- Writes code in Visual Basic .NET, ASP.NET, and SQL, and will be required to learn the Gen Tax tool sets.
- Analyzes the business rules required to process state taxes, then codes, configures, implements, and maintains those solutions and current processes as they relate to the application systems. May work independently or as part of a team.
- Writes code to support data interfaces with multiple input sources and output destinations from within and outside of state government. May also support websites and web applications.
- Performs full system testing and prepares data flows, application flows, and system flows. Creates system and user procedure documentation.
- Performs related work as required.
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field (e.g., business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering).
OR Associate's degree in a related field and eighteen months of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or database languages.
Substitution: Three years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or database languages may substitute for the required training.
Experience: Four years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in programming, system design and analysis work with multiple programming or database languages. Must be experienced with ASP.NET, Visual Studio .NET, and SQL, and have a working knowledge of using relational databases such as SQL and Oracle for extracting ad hoc datasets. Experience with XML and XML Schema preparation is desirable.
The position requires structured and object‑oriented techniques in design and implementation.
