Position: Building Maintenance Mechanic - Revenue - Lottery Commission - Kanawha Co.

responsibilities

this position will be at wv lottery headquarters under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled work at the full performance level in the mechanical or building trades in connection with the maintenance and repair of state facilities/buildings. Perform building maintenance and construction functions using plumbing, carpentry, electrical and other maintenance skills in accordance with applicable state and federal codes.

Work assignments will require skill and knowledge of maintenance and repair methods and practices. Responsibilities and duties will be as follows:

repairs and replaces walls, floors, tables, chairs and other wooden articles or equipment using saws, power and hand tools. Repairs and replaces lighting fixtures, bulbs, switches, and wiring; installs simple electrical equipment and assists in installation and repair of electrical equipment. Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains, and water lines; unstops toilets, drains and sewer lines; cleans grease traps.

Performs masonry repair work and replacing damaged masonry. Paints multi areas in a large building that include rooms and fixtures and equipment. Monitors operational readings as may apply to the maintenance and/or construction functions of a facility. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials. Moves furnitures, loads and unloads supplies, moves equipment by hand, with dollies and forklift. Performs other manual tasks.

Repairs and maintains tools and equipment used. May perform building service work such as sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors and washing walls, windows, mirrors and fixtures. May perform routine grounds work such as mowing and trimming, removing snow, sweeping sidewalks, power washing, cleaning of the parking area and picking up trash. Perform other operational duties as assigned and required.

preference will be given to applicants having: knowledge of basic operation of elevators, knowledge of electrical panels and their operation, prior operation of a computerized hvac control system for a high-rise building, knowledge of water pump operations and repair. Requirements of this position will include lifting, climbing, and walking in performing duties.

No person shall be appointed, employed or continue to serve in any position or employment with the commission who has been convicted of any violation of the lottery law or of any felony or any crime related to theft or gambling.

The commission shall remove or discharge any person so convicted.

minimum qualifications

training: no formal education required.

experience: two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in building maintenance or as a helper in a building trade.

special requirement: specific positions may require certification from a federal epa approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean air act on refrigerant recycling.
