Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Nature of Work
Working with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, this employee will lead all aspects of the building maintenance program at Bluestone State Park. The position requires extensive, practical knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electricity, heating/air conditioning, and the ability to lead maintenance, renovation, and repair. Professional certifications in any of the above will be given considerable weight in the selection process.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise other maintenance employees, preparing schedules and assigning duties based on priority and need.
- Perform carpentry work such as building, repairing, and installing counters, cabinets, benches, tables, chairs, partitions, floors, steps, doors, building framework, and trim using hand tools and power tools.
- Construct and repair structural woodwork and equipment, working from prints, drawings, or oral instructions.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; troubleshoot electrical controls.
- Repair equipment, including replacing motors, belts, seals, bearings, and blades.
- Repair drywall and masonry structures, and replace sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains, and water lines.
- Paint, finish, and decorate surfaces of buildings, equipment, machinery, and furnishings, both interior and exterior.
- Prepare area, erect scaffolding, clean surfaces, and mix paints and allied products.
- Repair and maintain tools and equipment used, and may perform grounds work such as mowing and trimming, removing snow, sweeping sidewalks, and picking up trash.
- Be available for emergency repairs on a “subject to call” basis, and work throughout all park facilities.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and night shifts.
- Must be available for “on call” work.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects, work on ladders, and at rooftop heights.
- Within 18 months of appointment, obtain a Class S Sewage Treatment Plant Operator License and maintain all licensing required for operating the sewage treatment system at the park.
Employee must have a valid driver’s license. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position, and the employee will be required to wear provided uniforms. Employee will be required to perform all other necessary duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
- Three years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience or paid self‑employment in heating, cooling, ventilation, building maintenance, or building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plasterer, welder, machinist, or masonry.
- Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
