Overview

Schedule: Monday through Friday (approximately 25 hours/week).
Pay: $10 to $12.75/hour. More than a daycare, the YWCA Mel Wolf Child Development Center is Tier II licensed and a cornerstone of early childhood education and development.

The Food Service Aide
, with the guidance of the Food Service Coordinator, is to assist with all operations of Mel Wolf Child Development center’s food service program including assisting in the preparation of nutritious meals and snacks while maintaining clean and safe working conditions in the kitchen and cafeteria.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily preparation of menu items for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner
  • Prepare tables for meal including putting out plates, napkins, spoons, cups, and chairs
  • Prepare children’s food plates with appropriate portions according to federal food guidelines
  • Assist with proper storage of food items
  • Collect daily classroom meal count for meal preparation
  • Rinse food off dishes and prepare dishes for dishwasher
  • Ensure dishes are washed and sanitized as according to Health Department regulations
  • Assist with putting away stock on delivery day
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks as determined by Food Service Coordinator
  • Routine tasks include but are not limited to:
    • Clean tables and chairs and sweep floors after meals.
    • Clean cabinet fronts in cafeteria.
    • Clean cafeteria walls as needed (moving highchairs).
    • Clean out refrigerator and freezer in cafeteria monthly
    • Keep cafeteria windowsills free of debris and wipe off as needed.
    • Clean doors and door windows of outside doors from cafeteria weekly.
    • Mop the kitchen, cafeteria, and do kitchen laundry as needed.
    • Be willing to learn and to work quickly and accurately.
    • Attend trainings as required by DHHR and Federal Food.
  • In the absence of Food Service Coordinator, be responsible for the completion of daily production records, weekly menu planning, weekly food orders.

Other duties, as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in food service preferred.
