Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department night shift with a WV or compact RN license and strong trauma experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a 24-bed Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department
- Care for patients from infants to geriatrics with a broad range of emergencies, including neurological, orthopedic, psychiatric, and renal cases
- High psychiatric patient volume with boarding of multiple high-acuity patients
- Patient ratios are 4:1
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may be required within scope to meet facility needs
- Blocked scheduling may be possible and can be discussed during interview
- Responsibilities include managing a diverse, high-acuity ED patient population and initiating trauma protocols as needed
- No separate psych area; nurses must care for psychiatric patients within the main ED area
- First-time travelers are accepted if all experience requirements are met
- Permanent employees are not eligible to return as travelers until two years after last date worked
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible; those between 75-100 miles may be considered for facility approval
- Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license accepted but must be active to start
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI (CPI can be obtained prior to start)
- Experience with IV starts and telemetry required
- COVID vaccination or approved exemption required for consideration
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 to March 31) unless medically exempt
