Overview
This position is responsible for conducting complex technical and field inspection work in health care and industrial facilities to determine compliance with various state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Duties include on-site surveys of mammography facilities, hospitals, physicians and dental offices as well as other health care and industrial settings that utilize radiation producing devices. This position also serves a role in the Radiologic Emergency Response Team.
This position is responsible for conducting inspections at facilities across the state that house and utilize radiation-producing devices. The primary purpose of these inspections is to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
- On-site surveys of mammography facilities, hospitals, physicians and dental offices as well as other health care and industrial settings that utilize radiation producing devices.
- Conduct inspections at facilities across the state that house and utilize radiation-producing devices to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
- Serve a role in the Radiologic Emergency Response Team.
Training: Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in radiologic technology, nuclear medicine, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering or closely related scientific field.
Substitution: Possession of a current license issued by the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners which was formally the West Virginia Board of Examiners of Radiologic Technologists may substitute for the associate degree; OR if licensed by another State, the ability to apply for a license issued by the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners within six months of employment.
Special RequirementsSpecial Requirement: Must possess a valid driver s license at the time of hire and must maintain such for duration of employment.
