Description
These positions work under general supervision, performing full‑performance level duties in the enforcement of environmental and public health sanitation laws. They conduct inspections, investigations, evaluations, and educational programs in environmental and public health sanitation, and provide general services in these programs. Public contact and considerable travel are required. The role includes independent judgment within prescribed parameters governed by extensive guidelines, procedures, laws, regulations, rules, and policies for evaluations, inspections, and investigations.
Continuous participation in a sanitation training program is required. This position is an alternate to OHIO
26002 in Wheeling, Ohio County.

Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience as a sanitarian.
Special Requirements: Must be permitted as a sanitarian‑in‑training or certified as a sanitarian with the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians, or be eligible to be permitted or certified with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20‑4‑4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
