- Perform supervisory and administrative duties under the Chief Sanitarian at a full-performance level.
- Assist the Chief Sanitarian in program planning activities and assure the quality of service delivery.
- Perform lead work and provide supervision, on‑job training, and standardization of other professionals assigned to the regional program.
- Oversee Environmental and Public Health education programs.
- Initiate enforcement action when necessary.
- Conduct performance evaluations of both personnel and program; participate in the grievance procedure and initiate disciplinary actions.
- Direct the Environmental Health Program in the absence of the Chief Sanitarian.
- Function as a field Sanitarian for a minority of the time and perform supervisory functions and other related work as required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.
- Or, a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science, or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Must be licensed as a Registered Sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
