Position: Turbine Operator (Abilene, TX)

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) powers Oracle’s global cloud services through highly available, large-scale, enterprise-grade data center environments. The Data Center Infrastructure Operations / Facilities team plays a critical role in sustaining OCI’s performance, security, and operational resilience by ensuring infrastructure systems operate reliably at scale.

You will join a technically rigorous organization with a culture grounded in operational excellence, disciplined processes, and continuous improvement, where infrastructure reliability, safety, and execution quality are foundational to delivering cloud services worldwide.

Role Overview

As a Turbine Operator, you will operate and maintain on-site turbine generation assets that support mission-critical power continuity for hyperscale data center operations. You will ensure safe operation, reliable performance, and regulatory compliance while partnering with engineering and vendors during maintenance and major service events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust turbine systems to meet site power requirements, coordinating with switch gear, SCADA, UPS interfaces, and backup generation as applicable.
  • Execute normal and abnormal operating procedures, including startup/shutdown, load adjustments, and system stabilization.
  • Analyze condition monitoring and performance data (e.g., vibration, thermal, alarms) to identify abnormal trends, efficiency losses, and reliability risks.
  • Coordinate and support preventive/corrective maintenance, outages, and overhauls with internal engineering teams and OEM vendors.
  • Maintain accurate logs, shift reports, and compliance documentation aligned to EPA, OSHA, NERC, and internal EHS requirements.
  • Participate in incident response and contribute technical input to corrective actions and continuous improvement.
