construction administration & inspection
, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.
We are looking for a Department Leader who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration, inspection and testing services for state (WVDOH), county, and local Clients. You'll be managing our Team for testing and inspection aspects of a wide range of projects, including primarily roadway/bridge, but may also include some aviation/airport, commercial, municipal utility/infrastructure sector projects. You'll leverage your expertise in construction inspection and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.
This position will use your experience to assist clients through our cross-functional team dynamic and company culture.

Highlights- This position works independently on broad projects under direction of a Regional Construction Service Line Manager while managing a team of direct reports and projects.
- The current Team size is 10 employees with future growth anticipated in the near term.
- Projects are typically in the greater Morgantown area/northern West Virginia region and the greater Charleston area/west-central WV region
. Frequent travel within this region is expected. - WVDOH large project experience is a strong plus,
as well as WVTRET Certification
.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Assist with growing the Inspection team (WVTRET) and project backlog.
- Recruit, manage, and train/mentor Team members (TRETs).
- Read project drawings, specifications, and work on a variety of construction projects.
- Oversee construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications.
- Oversee the Inspection of construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects.
- Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans.
- Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.
- Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
- Experience with materials and lab testing.
- Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications.
- Experience with standard testing and observation methods.
- Ability to read project plans and construction documents.
- Understanding of construction or engineering services.
- Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing.
- Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records.
- Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision.
- Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments.
- Must be able to interact well with others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
