Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, performs complex tasks involving interpretation and application of policies and practices.
  • Interprets office procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • May function as a lead worker for clerical positions.
  • Provides clerical support to the director or upper‑management staff.
  • Trains new employees in proper work methods and procedures.
  • Plans, organizes, and checks the work of lower‑level clerical employees.
  • Receives and analyzes interstate compact transfer documents for accuracy and initiates corrections of errors.
  • Assists supervisor in processing ICOTS reports daily.
  • Assigns transfer documents to parole officers for investigation and timely completion.
  • Operates the NCIC terminal to enter, modify, and cancel wanted persons and conduct criminal background checks for parolees and prospective employees.
  • Prepares and distributes parole papers and discharges for out‑of‑state parolees.
  • Operates a personal computer, copy machine, facsimile machine, scanner, etc.
  • Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and complaints.
  • Provides callers with information regarding services and procedures.
  • Maintains, sorts, and files documents.
  • Ensures work performed meets mandated time frames established under law and policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • This position requires one 12‑hour shift per week in security.
Minimum Special Hiring Rate

Minimum Special Hiring Rate: $34,070

Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility (CVPF) Details
  • In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5,000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
  • Employees in this classification receive an annual base building pay differential of $250 after completing one year of service.
  • If an employee is hired into a CVPF and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 will be removed from their salary unless they transfer to another CVPF.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience performing routine office work.
  • Substitution: College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
