Job DescriptionAshley Hall is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and passionate individual to lead our Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Basketball program. The JV Head Coach plays a crucial role in developing younger athletes, preparing them for potential advancement to the Varsity level, and fostering a love of the game. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the fundamentals of basketball, demonstrate strong teaching and leadership abilities, and create a positive, growth-oriented environment for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate should have experience in basketball fundamentals, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and possess a proven ability to work with developing athletes. Candidates must be committed to creating a culture that emphasizes growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Major Responsibilities- Leadership &
Coaching:
Provide mentorship, structure, and encouragement to JV student-athletes, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Build a cohesive and motivated team culture that emphasizes learning, improvement, and respect both on and off the court. - Athletic Development: Teach basketball fundamentals, ensuring players build a strong foundation in skills, strategies, and conditioning. Prepare athletes for potential advancement to the Varsity program by instilling discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.
- Practice & Game Preparation: Plan and conduct structured, purposeful practices that emphasize skill-building and team concepts. Develop age-appropriate game strategies while prioritizing player growth and confidence. Prepare the team for competition by teaching tactical concepts and fostering resilience.
- Game Management: Lead the team during games with an emphasis on teaching moments and player development. Make in-game decisions that balance competition with opportunities for growth and learning.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Varsity Coach to align program philosophies, teaching methods, and long-term player development goals. Coordinate with assistant coaches, athletic staff, and school leadership to ensure the program supports school values.
- Community Engagement: Represent Ashley Hall in a positive, professional manner with students, families, and the broader school community. Encourage student participation, support school spirit, and promote basketball within the community.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, games, and transportation. Ensure proper care of equipment and facilities, maintaining an organized and safe environment for athletes.
- A minimum of 2-3 years coaching basketball at the middle school, high school, or club level, with experience working with developing athletes strongly preferred.
- A solid understanding of basketball fundamentals, skill progression, and team dynamics.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with a demonstrated passion for teaching the game.
- Willingness to dedicate time and energy to practices, games, and team activities, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work cooperatively with the Varsity Head Coach, athletic department, and school community.
- Current or ability to attain CPR certification upon hire.
- Completion of all required Ashley Hall and SCISA paperwork.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check, reference checks, and medical requirements.
- In Season - October to March, 5-7 days a week, 2-4 hours a day
- Off Season responsibilities - TBD but expected
