Stationary Engineer (IUOE Local 465) – On-site position in Charleston, SC. Type:
Full-time with IUOE Local 465 benefits.

Schedule:

On-site, Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with rotating on-call after-hours emergencies. Reporting To:
On Site Supervisor.

• Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, air compressors, generators, motors, turbines, and steam boilers to provide utilities for buildings and industrial processes. Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices to verify operating conditions.
• Records data such as readings on gauges, meters, and charts; adjusts controls to ensure safe and efficient operation; monitors temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature/pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load, and generator balance.
• Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls; switches to backup equipment or systems; shuts down equipment as needed.
• Visually inspects equipment to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
• Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and cleaning or replacing burners or other components using hand and power tools.
• Oil and lubricate equipment; perform boiler tuning and efficiency testing.
• May perform water titration tests and add chemical additives to prevent scale buildup and to clean boiler lines.
• Record operation and maintenance actions in the operators’ logbook.
• Coordinate activities of other workers in tasks related to operating and maintaining the system(s).
• Perform repairs related to electronic control equipment as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

• All HVAC personnel designated to work on, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment shall possess one or more of the following certifications: NATE Core Service plus Air Distribution Services Specialist or K.A.T.E. Specialty; HVAC Excellence certifications (Light Commercial Air Conditioning, Gas Heat, Green Awareness); UA Star HVACR Mastery Certification.
• Maintain a minimum of 16 hours annually of continuing education from a recognized provider (NATE, HVAC Excellence, UA Star, or industry-recognized HVAC training organization).
• Minimum of one year experience. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
