Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Cape Romain Contractors, Inc. is hiring a full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Wando, SC. This is a hands‑on role supporting a fleet of equipment used in marine and heavy civil construction. Our mechanics are responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment, including excavators, loaders, trucks, boats, barges, and cranes (friction and hydraulic). • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (required)
• Strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting abilities (required)
• Experience with outboard motors (preferred)
• Knowledge of crane maintenance and repair (strongly preferred)
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
• Must be organized, reliable, and capable of working independently
• Comfortable working in a marine environment, around water, and on barges as needed

• Perform routine service, diagnostics, and repairs on all company‑owned equipment
• Travel to project sites for field service and emergency repairs
• Maintain accurate service logs and records in coordination with the Shop Foreman
• Help manage shop tools, parts inventory, and service vehicles
• Uphold company safety standards and contribute to a clean, organized work environment

Cape Romain Contractors pays employees per diem for work that is 60+ miles from the main office.
