The Transmission Operator is responsible for operating all necessary machines required to assist Transmission work for customers. This position supports the needs of the team and works with personnel within the department.
Responsibilities- Operate jobsite equipment safely, including mobile cranes, bulldozers, angle dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, excavators, track hoes, trenchers, digger-derricks, and other construction equipment.
- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work on energized and de-energized systems.
- Perform service, safety checks, and minor repairs on machines; check oil and fluids.
- Inspect work area to ensure it has been staked/located prior to digging.
- Work with maintenance crew or assist as laborer when not operating equipment.
- Dig around all live utilities, both underground and overhead.
- Train, guide, or oversee the work of lower graded operators and laborers when needed.
- Comply with proper safety standards/procedures and work practices according to Mas Tec or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
- Load trucks in a safe and accident-free manner.
- Work to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and provide quality, timely customer service.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work for extended periods in various locations when required.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
- Current and valid crane certification preferred.
This job operates in a field environment. Activities typically include extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, working in awkward positions, standing, and twisting, with exposure to inclement weather (extreme heat/cold, rain, ice, snow, wind). Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include distance judgment and color discernment; precise hand-eye coordination is needed.
