Job Summary

Boiler Technician – Level 4 is a senior‑level role responsible for expert service, maintenance, and upgrades of hot water and steam boiler systems in commercial and industrial settings. This position requires advanced troubleshooting skills, extensive experience with dual‑fuel burner setups and combustion tuning, and a deep understanding of control and motor wiring. Candidates must be proficient in 3‑element feedwater systems, parallel positioning controls, and analog circuit/transmitter diagnostics.

Additionally, this role demands knowledge of 3‑parameter trim systems, O2 trim installation, and hands‑on experience with advanced control system upgrades. The ideal technician delivers top‑tier performance, reliability, and service excellence to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead expert‑level service, maintenance, and upgrades of boiler systems in complex environments.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of burner setup and combustion management on dual‑fuel systems.
  • Work with 3‑element feedwater systems and parallel positioning controls.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with analog circuits and transmitters.
  • Apply knowledge of 3‑parameter trim systems and O2 trim controls.
  • Execute advanced control system upgrades and retrofits.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to other technicians on boiler repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested.
  • Prepare for on‑site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on‑site work.
  • Inspect vehicles and maintain records of service manuals, scheduling, and repairs.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, inspecting for signs of wear.
  • Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Represent the company as a direct customer contact.
  • Determine parts to order for repairs and assess timeliness of need.
  • Keep current on all manufacturers’ products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
  • Provide technical support to customers.
  • Be knowledgeable with the products and services offered by Brady and effectively sell those products and services.
  • Be flexible to work overtime/weekends as required.
  • Promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the company.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes and customer service.
  • Improve personal performance on a continual basis.
Customer Service
  • Provide responsive, professional, and diplomatic customer service.
  • Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly.
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
  • Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long‑term customer relationships.
  • Immediately address any customer concern and request involvement of other company personnel as required.
Safety
  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non‑compliance to your Team Leader.
  • Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
  • Use proper PPE equipment at all times when necessary.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader and HR immediately.
  • Complete all monthly safety training topics during the month due.
Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; 8–10 years of related experience in the field.

Computer

Skills:

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license, Universal EPA certification.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form; deal with abstract and concrete variables.
